Do you consider the invitation to your wedding to be a big deal?
We are planning our wedding, and I've started doing my research- since I've never been very interested in weddings before.
I am noticing that the invitation is a really big deal, women are trying to be creative and/or glamorous, chic, "wow factor" and all. This is expensive!!!
I have been to a few weddings, and I've NEVER kept the invitation, I've never oohed over it and thought twice about it. I'm happy for the couple and excited to be attending their wedding.
I understand the invite should represent the day somehow, and it should be nice- but dried flowers, and "bling", and heavy paper...my head is spinning. I mean, maybe if the guests were going to keep the invitation- but who does that?
Do you consider the invitation/stationary a big deal? Have you ever saved an invitation or become more excited about the event because of the style/detail of the invitation?
It is probably only a big deal to the couple being married and maybe their Moms. Like you - I've never kept an invite. BUT I plan on keeping mine in a scrapbook.
I wanted it to look nice, but I am on a budget and am not shelling out tons of money on something people are going to toss in the trash. I took a DIY kit that had a lasercut design at the top and dressed it up - I got the kit on sale for 1/2 price. I put a dark red backing paper on it (bought on sale at the craft store). Then I bought a hole punch and fed a ribbon through the papers to make it look fancy.
It looks like a million bucks and I figured out I spent about $1.25 per invite at the end of the day. I could live with that price tag and it looked great.
We just sent our invites out and I was surprised that my fiance said all his co-workers thought the invites were beautiful. I've honestly never heard of anyone commenting on them before, so I was very surprised.
